The claim that Cevdet Ertürkmen, who was appointed as a trustee to the Şişli Municipality, has closed the city restaurants has caused an uproar. While photos showing the restaurants in the district as closed were circulated, the municipality issued a denial stating that the restaurants were kept closed due to the inability to procure supplies since March 19, and that they would be reopened as soon as possible.
The claim that District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen, who was appointed as the trustee of Şişli Municipality instead of Resul Emrah Şahan, who was arrested and sent to prison as part of a terrorism investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, closed the city restaurants in the district has sparked significant debate.
ŞİŞLİ MUNICIPALITY PUT AN END TO THE DEBATES
Many citizens who captured images of the closed city restaurants interpreted this as the first action of the trustee administration, while the debate was concluded with a statement from Şişli Municipality.
MARCH 19 DETAIL CAUGHT ATTENTION
In a written statement from the municipality, it was emphasized that the restaurants have been kept closed since March 19 due to the inability to procure supplies, and that necessary instructions have been given to open the shops as soon as possible.
"WILL BE INCREASED ACCORDING TO THE NEEDS OF OUR DISTRICT"
In a statement made from Şişli Municipality's X account, the following was stated; "'Reports that '3 City Restaurants in Şişli have been closed' are completely unfounded. Two are fixed, and one is mobile, but due to the inability to procure supplies since March 19, 2025, the instruction to reopen the 3 City Restaurants, which have been kept closed, was given by the Deputy Mayor Mr. Cevdet Ertürkmen to the relevant unit managers on the date he started his duty, March 24, 2025.
Increasing the number of our City Restaurants in the medium term, in line with the needs of our district, is on our municipality's agenda. We kindly request our citizens not to trust these and similar operational journalism products that are false."
