Describing their marriage as a different kind of relationship, Selen made a striking confession years later, saying, "Münir told me 'I need fresh blood.' He said 'You are too serious.' We were just friends. We were never lovers. In a way, we were never husband and wife."

Suna Selen, speaking to Tatlı Röportajlar, shared a dialogue from when their daughter was born for the first time. Selen said that Münir Özkul's first wife, Şadan Özkul, wanted her name to be included in the child's name, using the following words:
"For example, we had a child. She said name the child after me. Münir said Şadan wants her name included too. I said let's do it. We named our daughter Güner Şadan Özkul. Later, Şadan made a second request after a while. That is, after Münir quit drinking and completely cleaned up.
Münir said 'You divorced me, now Şadan wants you to divorce him.' I said okay, let's divorce. Look, this is like a ping-pong ball. If the ball comes to your racket, you hit it forward."
