Famous journalist and writer Yılmaz Özdil suffered a heart attack. Özdil was taken to the intensive care unit at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital in Istanbul. It was reported that Özdil will also undergo angiography tomorrow and that two more of his vessels will be opened. WHO IS YILMAZ ÖZDİL?Yılmaz Özdil was born in 1965 in İzmir. His father is Veli Özdil, and his mother is Nadide Özdil. His grandfather migrated from Aksaray to İzmir during the time of Süleyman Bey. He has an older brother named Yıldırım. After graduating from İzmir Atatürk High School, he graduated from the Journalism department of Ege University School of Press and Broadcasting. In 1985, while in his third year at university, he played on the university's handball team. He started his journalism career in 1982 as a reporter for Yeni Asır newspaper and later became the editor-in-chief at Yeni Asır. In 1994, he became the Editorial Director at Milliyet newspaper. In 1995, he moved to Sabah newspaper as the Editorial Director. In 1999, he was involved in the establishment of Star newspaper. He later returned to Sabah and took on the role of general editor of ATV news. He resigned after the TMSF took over ATV and Sabah, and on August 12, 2007, he joined Hürriyet as a writer. In 2008, he began serving as the editor of the Star Main News bulletin hosted by Uğur Dündar. He writes on the third page of Hürriyet and also works as a sports writer under the umbrella of Fanatik newspaper. Yılmaz Özdil has been married to Hülya, whom he met in his third year of university, since 1989, and they have a daughter named Pelin (b. 1991).
