The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has decided to extend the special student status granted to students affected by the February 6 earthquakes for an additional year. This accommodation, implemented to prevent hardships for students enrolled at universities in Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya, will remain valid in the new academic year.

WILL BE VALID FOR ONE MORE YEAR 

According to the statement from YÖK, the special student status has been extended for one more year to prevent victimization of earthquake-affected students.

DECIDED AFTER THE FEBRUARY 6 EARTHQUAKES

Following the February 6, 2023 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, the Council had previously decided to grant special student status, upon request, to students studying at universities in Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya.

The decision was valid for the 2023-2024, 2024-2025, and 2025-2026 academic years.
