In the Bekilli, Çardak and Buldan districts of Denizli, suspects who called elderly people by phone and introduced themselves as soldiers, police officers or prosecutors received their jewelry through the lie 'A murder was committed in your district, your ID was found at the scene.' The gendarmerie caught 7 suspects red-handed with approximately 4.4 million lira in cash and jewelry; the seized items were returned to their owners.
Denizli Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams caught 7 suspects red-handed, along with the jewelry they seized, who called elderly citizens by phone, introduced themselves as public personnel, and defrauded them of approximately 4,400,000 TL.
THE LIE THAT YOUR IDENTITY WAS FOUND AT THE CRIME SCENE
Within the scope of efforts carried out by Denizli Provincial Gendarmerie Command against qualified fraud incidents, elderly citizens residing in Bekilli, Çardak, and Buldan districts were targeted over the past month. The suspects, who introduced themselves as soldiers, police officers, or prosecutors, defrauded citizens by pressuring them with the lie, "A burglary occurred in your district and a murder was committed; your identity was found at the crime scene; to prevent you from being harmed, I will send gendarmerie personnel to your home; hand your jewelry over to them," and abused public trust.
CAUGHT RED-HANDED TOGETHER WITH THE GOLD
Following these findings, Gendarmerie Detectives (JASAT) and district gendarmerie command teams, acting under the coordination of the Çal, Çardak, and Buldan Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, launched a detailed and persistent effort. The teams organized an operation and caught the 7 suspects who carried out the fraud incidents, together with all the jewelry they had taken from the victims, without giving them a chance to escape. The seized cash and jewelry were returned to their owners in full.
Following their procedures, the suspects were referred to the courthouse and brought before judicial authorities.

Officials emphasized that, in the event citizens encounter such fraud attempts, not trusting the callers and immediately calling the 112 Emergency Call Center is of great importance in preventing possible victimization. Denizli Provincial Gendarmerie Command announced that it will resolutely continue its fight against crime and criminality in its area of responsibility.
