Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that they want to end the Russia-Ukraine War through diplomacy and that he is ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin if necessary.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on his Telegram account that he received Odile Renaud-Basso, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), who was visiting his country.
"I AM READY TO MEET WITH PUTIN IF WE CAN AGREE"
After the bilateral meeting, Zelensky evaluated the latest developments regarding the ongoing war in his country during a press conference with Odile Renaud-Basso. In response to a question about the possibility of meeting with Russian President Putin to end the war, Zelensky said: "Of course, both the U.S. and President (Donald) Trump and EU countries believe that diplomacy is not possible without Russia, without Putin. That’s why I said that if we can agree on how this war will end for us, I am ready to meet with Putin. We are ready for diplomacy; I have no problem with that. The issue is that it seems to me that Putin is afraid in principle to talk to me about ending the war." Zelensky added, "But I still think that Trump could force him to end the war."
"I AM SURE THAT U.S.-UKRAINE TEAMS WILL WORK TOGETHER"
Recently, Zelensky also addressed the emergence of information in some media outlets claiming to be "Trump's plan" to end the Russia-Ukraine War, stating, "I am sure that our teams (U.S.-Ukraine) will work together. There cannot be a different plan from each other."
"WE ARE READY FOR DIPLOMACY"
Zelensky recalled that he had previously shared his views on ending the war with Trump, stating, "However, we will still work to ensure that this is a common understanding and vision. Even if Russia does not like something, we need a common vision among partners. Then we are ready for diplomacy." He also mentioned the claims that a plan for ending the war has emerged from Keith Kellogg, whom Trump appointed as his Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, saying, "We will wait for official negotiations and results."
EBRD WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT UKRAINE'S ENERGY SECTOR
EBRD President Renaud-Basso stated that they have provided 6.2 billion euros in support to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, along with the 2.4 billion euros allocated last year. Renaud-Basso said they will continue to produce projects in Ukraine's energy sector and support the private sector.
