The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that a large quantity of drugs hidden in cans of vegetable oil was seized on a ship from Brazil at the port of Latakia in the west of the country. The statement from the ministry indicated that the seized drugs were intended to be delivered to an unnamed neighboring country.
In a statement from the Syrian Ministry of Interior, it was reported that the Narcotics Crime Combat Department teams detected a large amount of cocaine on a ship that arrived from Brazil at the Lazkiye Port in the west of the country.

In the statement, it was expressed that the drugs were professionally hidden inside cans of vegetable oil to be delivered to a neighboring country whose name was not disclosed, and the following information was provided: "The operation was carried out as a result of meticulous intelligence information and field tracking. The entire shipment was seized before it could leave the port. Our security units are continuing the investigation within the framework of national and international law to identify all perpetrators involved in the incident and to initiate deterrent legal actions."
The statement emphasized that the operation was conducted within the framework of "efforts to combat drug trafficking networks, ensure public safety, and prevent the infiltration of narcotic substances into local and international markets."
