A major blow to usury in Şanlıurfa: 41 arrests, million-dollar assets seized.

In a comprehensive investigation into usury activities across Şanlıurfa, a significant blow was dealt to usury operations. As part of a five-month investigation conducted by the police and gendarmerie, 12 companies were appointed trustees, 1,145 bank accounts were blocked, and assets valued in millions were seized.

A comprehensive operation coordinated by the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has dealt a heavy blow to usury activities. It has been reported that, thanks to meticulous efforts carried out in recent months, activities related to these crimes have significantly decreased throughout the city.

In operations conducted within the scope of investigations jointly carried out by the Police and Gendarmerie under the leadership of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 41 suspects were arrested, and assets worth millions of lira were seized.

5 MONTHS OF DILIGENT MONITORING

As of September 1, 2025, a large-scale investigation into usury crimes was initiated throughout Şanlıurfa. Following approximately 5 months of technical and physical surveillance, simultaneous operations were carried out at addresses identified as engaging in usury.

76 DETENTIONS, 41 ARRESTS

A total of 76 suspects were detained in the operations. After their processing at the Police and Gendarmerie, 41 of the suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before, while 35 individuals were released under judicial control.

VEHICLES, REAL ESTATE, AND ACCOUNTS SEIZED

Within the scope of the investigation, a seizure order was executed for 55 vehicles (trucks, trailers, cars, and motorcycles) and 20 real estate properties identified as belonging to the suspects.

12 COMPANIES APPOINTED A TRUSTEE, 1,145 BANK ACCOUNTS BLOCKED

Additionally, a trustee was appointed to 12 companies, and 1,145 bank accounts belonging to the suspects were blocked. During the investigations, a large amount of cash believed to have been obtained from usury was seized.

MESSAGE OF DETERMINATION

The Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office emphasized that the fight against organized crimes, especially usury, will continue with determination and without interruption.
