The Bulgarian government has decided to establish a new customs gate next to Kapitan Andreevo-Kapıkule with Turkey.
A NEW BORDER GATE WILL BE ESTABLISHED BETWEEN BULGARIA AND TURKEY
In a written statement made after the government's regular session, it was stated, "The Council of Ministers approved the draft agreement between Bulgaria and Turkey for the resolution of issues related to border crossings between the two countries and the opening of a new border crossing point called 'Kapitan Andreevo-Kapıkule-North'."
According to the draft agreement, a joint commission to be formed from the competent authorities of the parties will determine the relevant parameters of the new crossing point north of the existing border crossing point named "Kapitan Andreevo-Kapıkule".
The commission is expected to address various issues related to the basic technical characteristics of road connections, the location of routes, border crossing points, the number of border crossing routes, the location and technical parameters of the new border control and crossing point, working regime, infrastructure, types of cargo and passengers, and the construction of the new border crossing.
Kapitan Andreevo-Kapıkule, which is considered one of the busiest border gates in the world, is also known as "the largest land border gate in Europe connecting the European Union (EU) to Asia".
