The semester break, which will end on February 2, may be extended due to heavy snowfall that will increase its impact starting Monday. Meteorology experts pointed out that heavy snowfall is expected in many provinces on Monday, stating that schools may be closed in many cities due to the precipitation.
The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) issued a snowfall warning for many provinces in its 5-day weather forecast report published on its website.
THE SEMESTER BREAK MAY BE EXTENDED
While millions of students who went on vacation on January 16 are expected to return to school on February 2, changes have been made in vacation planning following the rainfall warnings.
The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has started working for a possible holiday in the cities where rainfall warnings have been issued, while students are curious about the cities expected to have a holiday on Monday.
HERE ARE THE CITIES WITH SNOW WARNINGS
According to the report published on MGM's website, the provinces expected to have snowfall on Monday are Sivas, Kayseri, Malatya, Erzincan, Tunceli, Elazığ, Diyarbakır, Bingöl, Mardin, Muş, Bitlis, Batman, Hakkari, Van, Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Gümüşhane, Bayburt, Erzurum, Iğdır, Kars, Ardahan, Ağrı, and Van.
SCHOOLS MAY BE CLOSED IN ISTANBUL'S DISTRICTS AS WELL
Experts stated that the mentioned weather movement could also cause snowfall in Istanbul, and it was noted that education and training could be suspended in some districts of Istanbul on Monday. Meteorology sources indicated that sunny weather would prevail in the Marmara and surrounding regions as of Tuesday.
