During a meeting with Syrian President Ahmed Shara in the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated, "We have always advocated for the restoration of Syria's territorial integrity. You know this very well, and we support all your efforts in this direction."
Syrian President Ahmed Shara, who made an official visit to Moscow, the capital of Russia, met with President Vladimir Putin.
"WE HAVE ALWAYS DEFENDED SYRIA'S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY"
At the beginning of the meeting at the Kremlin, Putin expressed that they closely follow the efforts to restore Syria's territorial integrity and stated that they are pleased with the momentum of the process, congratulating Shara on this matter. Emphasizing that Russia's position is clear, Putin said, "We have always defended the restoration of Syria's territorial integrity. You know this very well, and we support all your efforts in this direction."
EMPHASIS ON THE EUPHRATES REGION
Specifically addressing the integration of the Euphrates Region into the central government, Putin noted that this step is of critical importance. The Russian leader stated, "I believe that the integration of the Euphrates Region is undoubtedly an important step in this process. I believe it will contribute to the overall restoration of Syria's territorial integrity."

Concluding his remarks with a congratulatory message, Putin said, "We congratulate you on this development. We are very pleased to see you. Welcome, Mr. President."
KREMLIN: THE FUTURE OF RUSSIAN SOLDIERS IN SYRIA WILL BE DISCUSSED
In a statement from the Kremlin regarding the meeting between the two leaders, it was conveyed that the topics to be discussed at the summit had been outlined. The statement noted that relations with Syria have actively developed following the change of leadership, stating, "The future of Russian soldiers in Syria will be discussed in the meeting with Shara."
It was also expressed that during the meeting between Putin and Shara, the current state of relations between the two countries and the possibilities for cooperation in various sectors are expected to be addressed, and the leaders will exchange views on the current situation in the Middle East and regional developments.
SECOND VISIT AFTER THE FALL OF ASSAD
Putin and Shara had previously met on October 15, 2025, in Moscow. This visit was Shara's first official visit to Moscow as President following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime at the end of December 2024.
