The company has experienced financial losses as a result of products being returned and destroyed in the European market due to aflatoxin and ochratoxin concerns. The firm was exporting to 14 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
One of Turkey's leading dried fig exporters, Aydın-based Sante Gıda, has entered into a concordat process due to the economic crisis and the aflatoxin issues encountered in exports.
DIFFICULT DAYS IN EXPORT
The company, operating in the Nazilli district, has experienced significant financial losses due to the return and destruction of products on the grounds of aflatoxin and ochratoxin, especially in the European market. This situation has led the company to fall into an economic bottleneck.
25 YEARS OF GREAT EXPERIENCE
Founded in the 1990s and operating for three generations, Sante Gıda produces 1,500 tons of conventional dried figs, 750 tons of organic dried figs, and 250 tons of dried apricots annually with its 25 years of experience. The company was exporting to 14 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, the UK, the USA, China, and Australia.
AN IMPORTANT PLAYER IN THE REGIONAL ECONOMY WITH 200 EMPLOYEES
With more than 200 employees, the company is known as one of the locomotives of the regional economy thanks to its production capacity and the collaboration it has maintained with producers for over 15 years. However, the European Union's strict food safety inspections and returned products have brought the company to the brink of bankruptcy.
CONCORDAT PROCESS FOR RESTRUCTURING PURPOSES
Company officials stated that the concordat process is a step taken to ensure production and business continuity, as well as to restructure debts. Sante Gıda aims to maintain its position in the market with packaging solutions that meet customer demands.
