DEM Party Spokesperson and Şırnak Deputy Ayşegül Doğan took the floor during the Presidential 2026 budget discussions in the Parliament Planning and Budget Commission. Doğan made evaluations regarding both the ongoing discussions about the "new process" and President Mesud Barzani's visit to the Cizre district of Şırnak.
"WE RECEIVE 90% OF THE VOTES BUT..."
In her speech, Doğan dedicated significant time to President Mesud Barzani's visit to Cizre and the symposium held. She stated that the DEM Party was excluded from the process. Reminding that Barzani's visit was organized at the invitation of the Şırnak Governorship, the District Governorship, and Şırnak University, Doğan expressed: "This organization was held under the name of the 4th International Melayê Cizîrî Symposium. Ms. Gülşen Orhan, one of the Presidential Chief Advisors, and Deputy Minister of Interior Münir Karaloğlu were also present. However, we were attempted to be disregarded in this organization. We almost receive 90% of the votes in Cizre. Despite all the obstacles and pressures, this has been the case for years. We are the leading party in Şırnak, with 3 deputies and co-mayors."
"IT HAS GREAT HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE"
Ayşegül Doğan emphasized that despite the protocol crisis, President Barzani's visit is valuable for the local people and politics. Doğan stated, "For the co-mayors of the city and for us, you can appreciate that Mr. Mesud Barzani's visit to Cizre holds great historical significance both in terms of the process and historically."
"THE PROCESS NEEDS A NEW LANGUAGE"
Speaking about the "new solution process" being discussed in Turkey, Doğan pointed out that the success of the process requires a change in language and methods. Stating that the current period is a breaking point, Doğan noted: "We are going through a brand new process, and the fundamental needs of this process are justice, law, and democracy. This process needs a new language and a new method. There is a need for this language to become visible in practices and to be reflected in the budget. In fact, when this language and method change, we will be able to talk about a fairer budget."
"THE PROCESS SHOULD NOT BE INSTRUMENTALIZED"
Warning that the process should not be used for political gain, Doğan stated, "Those who warn us about language should show the same care themselves. This critical threshold imposes responsibility not only on us but also on the government and the opposition. No political party should turn this into an area to consolidate its own power. No one should attempt to instrumentalize the process by trying to derive a different power from it."
