Germany has expressed support for Israel, which has been requested to be expelled from the Eurovision Song Contest by several countries, including Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Belgium, and Spain. Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that if Israel were to be expelled, his country should voluntarily withdraw from participating in the music competition.

Speaking on the public television program "Caren Miosga," Merz argued that Israel is a part of this competition, stating that even discussing its expulsion is "a scandal."
Chancellor Merz stated that if Israel is expelled from the Eurovision Song Contest, Germany should voluntarily refrain from participating in the music competition.
MANY COUNTRIES HAVE REQUESTED ISRAEL'S EXPULSION
Many countries, including Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Belgium, and Spain, had announced that they would boycott the competition if Israel is allowed to participate due to its attacks in the Gaza Strip.
A VOTE WILL BE HELD
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes the competition, announced that all participating countries will come together in November 2025 to vote on whether Israel will be expelled or not.
