Şenol Diktepe, who went to the forest to collect mushrooms in the Eskipazar district of Karabük, experienced great joy when he learned that the stone he found on the ground was a meteorite.
Şenol Diktepe, who went to the forested area in the Yaplan neighborhood of Haslı village, Eskipazar district of Karabük to collect mushrooms, noticed a stone that caught his attention with its color and structure among the surrounding stones while he was resting.
Diktepe, who took the heavier stone, brought it to Karabük University for experts to examine. In an analysis conducted by a professor at the university, it was determined that the stone, weighing approximately 250 grams, was a meteorite. Expressing his joy at finding a meteorite, Diktepe said, "There was a stone next to me that caught my attention. It was very different from the others and quite heavy. I picked it up out of curiosity. When our professor examined it and said it was a meteorite, we were very happy. Thank God we found our stone."
"I CAN GIVE THE METEORITE TO A CURIOUS PERSON"
Diktepe stated that a detailed analysis of the metals inside the stone was necessary and mentioned that their village is at an altitude of 1700 meters, and meteorites generally fall in high areas. Diktepe also indicated that he could give the meteorite to someone who is curious.
"MY EYES ARE NOW ALWAYS ON THE STONES"
Diktepe expressed that he initially only shared the news of the meteorite with his close circle to prevent unnecessary crowds in the village, saying, "In such situations, dozens of people can enter the forest and harm the environment. That's why I didn't share it at first. After discovering the meteorite, my perspective on nature has changed. Every time I come to my village, my eyes are now always on the stones. I can't help but look at them closely."
