Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, who has been in custody for 4 days on charges of "aiding FETÖ/PDY," "bribery," and "political and military espionage," has been referred to the courthouse. It was stated that Epözdemir exercised his right to remain silent at the police station and will provide a statement to the prosecutor's office.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting two separate investigations against lawyer Rezan Epözdemir for the crimes of "bribery," aiding the armed terrorist organization "FETÖ/PDY," and "political and military espionage."

1 MORE PERSON HAS BEEN DETAINED

As part of the investigation into the crime of "bribery," it has been learned that C.Ç's former secretary, mentioned in the statements of witness A.D, has been detained. The suspect who was detained was brought to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan by police teams. The suspect's proceedings at the prosecutor's office are ongoing.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir was detained on August 10 as part of two separate investigations conducted by the chief public prosecutor's office for the crimes of "bribery," "aiding the FETÖ/PDY armed terrorist organization," and "political and military espionage."

In the "bribery" investigation, which was subject to a confidentiality order, witness A.D stated that there were three different actions in which Epözdemir received bribes.

Witness A.D claimed that in an incident in 2021, where there was no power of attorney relationship, Epözdemir and C.Ç received a total bribe of 150 thousand dollars, with 75 thousand dollars being given before the evacuation process and the remaining 75 thousand dollars after the evacuation. It was alleged that the 75 thousand dollar portion was brought to Epözdemir by C.Ç on July 7, 2021.

It was also emphasized that the "WhatsApp" records in the file confirmed that a bribe of 75 thousand dollars was received on July 7, 2021.
