Sedat Peker made a statement regarding his lawyer Ersan Barkın taking on the case of Ahmet Minguzzi and the gang-related incidents in the country. Peker said, "When the news came out in the media that my esteemed lawyer Ersan Barkın has taken on the representation of our brother Ahmet Minguzzi's family, I saw sad posts like 'Sedat Peker did what the state could not do.' I am a child of the state."

WHEN REZAN EPÖZDEMİR WAS ARRESTED, THE FAMILY CHANGED LAWYERS
In the ongoing case of Ahmet Mattia Minguzzi, who was stabbed to death at the age of 15 in Kadıköy in 2023, a change of lawyer occurred. Following the arrest of the family's lawyer Rezan Epözdemir on August 14 on charges of "facilitating bribery," the case will now be followed by Lawyer Ersan Barkın.
HE HAD SENT A "WE ARE WITH YOU" MESSAGE
Ersan Barkın, known as Sedat Peker's lawyer, has a relationship with the Minguzzi family that dates back to the early days of the case. Allegedly, Peker reached out to the family through Barkın during the days when Ahmet Minguzzi lost his life, stating that he was with them in every process. In a post on his social media account, Ersan Barkın quoted a photo he took with Minguzzi's mother, Yasemin Minguzzi, and wrote, "With gratitude to the Minguzzi family, who are fighting for our future in the name of our beautiful child Mattia Ahmet..."
"HE WILL REPRESENT OUR FAMILY"
Mother Yasemin Minguzzi also shared a photo with Barkın on her Instagram account, expressing her gratitude. In her statement, she said, "In the ongoing case of our son Mattia Ahmet at the Istanbul Children's Heavy Criminal Court, our family will be represented by Lawyer Ersan Barkın. We thank Mr. Ersan Barkın once again for being with us from day one." Yasemin Minguzzi also shared a message from Peker's wife, Özge Peker, stating, "I hope they will receive the punishment they deserve before justice. As a mother, this is my prayer. May God always be your helper, Mrs. Yasemin."
CLAIM OF THREATS CEASED
After Barkın took on this role, it was claimed that threats against the Minguzzi family on social media ceased, and those who threatened also closed their accounts. In the discussion regarding the Minguzzi family, members of the "new generation gang" such as the Caspers and Daltons began to be insulted by being called "keko."
SEDAT PEKER BROKE HIS SILENCE
Organized crime leader Sedat Peker broke his silence on the matter. Peker first reacted by stating that "keko" means brother in Kurdish and criticized the use of this word as an insult. Describing the posts as "sad," Peker said, "I am a child of the state."

Peker's statement is as follows:
"The most important thing that can lead to the destruction of a society is to collectively blame a segment of the population (Turks, Kurds, Arabs, etc.) for the crimes committed by certain individuals. I regret to see that a significant part of our country is making this mistake. If this mistake is insisted upon, it will serve no purpose other than 'pouring water into the mill of the social chaos that some powers want to create in Turkey.' In Kurdish, the word 'keko' means brother. Don't pour water into the mill of those who want to sow discord among the people of our country. There are two types of people: the first is a good person, and the second is a bad person. Do not speak ill by referring to people's ethnic identities. The harm of this will be very great for our country in the future.

I want to make it clear: I am the child of my mother and father. However, I see myself as a child of the state before that, I accept it, and I believe it with all my heart. You want to provoke people to say something. As a result, you know that the people who love me will also harm them. Don't you have anything else to do? Don't you see that you might cause very terrible events just so you can have a good time on social media? Don't do it. Go find other entertainments for yourself. Don't play with people's lives and blood."
