With the new decision published in the Official Gazette, service charges or additional fees such as cover charges have been removed in establishments such as restaurants, cafes, and patisseries.
The request for additional payment from consumers under the names of service, table fee, or similar by businesses providing food and beverage services such as restaurants, cafes, and pastry shops has been prohibited.
The "Regulation Amending the Price Tag Regulation" prepared by the Ministry of Commerce has been published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect.
THOSE FEES HAVE BEEN REMOVED
Accordingly, restaurants, cafes, and pastry shops, as well as similar establishments providing food and beverage services, can no longer request additional payments from consumers under any name such as service, table, or cover fees.
The published regulation states: "In case any fee is charged under any name other than the prices shown in the tariff and price list, it is mandatory to show this in the tariff and price list. However, in restaurants, cafes, pastry shops, and similar establishments providing food and beverage services, provided that the provision of Article 51 of the Labor Law No. 4857 dated 22/5/2003 is reserved; no additional payment can be requested from the consumer under any name such as service fee, table fee, cover fee, and similar."
