Lawyer Sedef Selçuk explained the legal dimensions of the process during the live broadcast, stating that under Article 191 of the Turkish Penal Code, the crime could result in a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years. The question of whether Feyza Altun would be disbarred was also addressed in the program.
This week, Gökay Kalaycıoğlu and Hakan Solaker discussed the details of the banned substance operation that has taken Turkey's agenda by storm on the "Magazin Bahane" program aired on Haberler.com. In the operation that took place in the morning hours, more than 30 famous names were called in for questioning. The behind-the-scenes of the process, which included well-known figures such as İrem Derici, Feyza Altun, Hadise, Kaan Yıldırım, Demet Evgar, Berrak Tüzünataç, Dilan, and Engin Polat, was evaluated live on air.
Lawyer Sedef Selçuk, who was a guest on the program, explained the legal aspects of the operation comprehensively. Selçuk provided detailed information to the audience on topics such as the use of stimulants and incitement crimes, evidence collection processes, personal rights, and the protection of privacy.
In her statement, Selçuk said, "Here, we are dealing with the use of stimulants and public incitement accusations. The investigation is currently ongoing. Individuals have been directed to urine and blood tests. If stimulants are found in these tests, a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years may be on the table according to Article 191 of the Turkish Penal Code."
IS IT POSSIBLE TO CONVERT TO A FINE?
In response to Gökay Kalaycıoğlu's question, "Can these penalties ultimately be converted to fines?" Selçuk replied: "Generally, such cases result in a decision to postpone the announcement of the verdict. In other words, the prison sentence can be deferred, but this is usually applied in cases with sentences of less than two years."
IS THERE A POSSIBILITY OF SUSPENSION FROM THE PROFESSION FOR FEYZA ALTUN?
Kalaycıoğlu also pointed out that Feyza Altun, one of the individuals involved in the operation, stands out with her legal background and asked, "Is there a possibility of suspension from the profession?" Lawyer Selçuk answered this question: "There will be no suspension from the profession. However, of course, she may undergo a disciplinary investigation for not adhering to the rules of the profession. A warning, reprimand, and even partial expulsion from the profession, meaning expulsion penalties for a period of 3 years, could also be on the table. Of course, I comment on these with great sadness."
