Samurai wasps produced in KTAE laboratories were released into nature starting from June. The wasps target the eggs of the brown marmorated stink bug, naturally controlling the spread of this pest. This way, both product losses are prevented, and the environment and human health are protected by reducing the use of chemical pesticides.
"WE ARE CONTROLLING WITHOUT DISRUPTING NATURE'S BALANCE"
Expressing that over 1 million samurai wasps have been released into nature in 2025, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Halit Doğan stated, "We are always by the side of our producers and farmers in our agricultural city of Samsun. In recent years, the brown marmorated stink bug, which has caused serious damage to fruit trees and field crops, poses a significant threat to our producers by causing product losses. Together with our relevant institutions, we are continuing our fight against this pest with both chemical and biological methods. By releasing samurai wasps, which is one of the environmentally friendly biological control methods, we are controlling pests without disrupting the balance of nature. As of 2025, we have exceeded our targets and released over 1 million samurai wasps into nature. Thus, we have protected our farmers' products and contributed to ecological balance," he said.
