The operations carried out by the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch resulted in the detention of Kartal Deputy Mayor Cemalettin Yüksel, Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Livan Gür, Üsküdar Municipal Council Member B.K, Sancaktepe Municipal Council Member E.G, Fatih Municipal Council Member G.A, Tuzla Municipal Council Member H.Ö, Adalar Municipal Council Member N.A, Şişli Municipal Council Member S.G, Beyoğlu Municipal Council Member T.Ş., and I.P., who was identified as being connected to the Beyoğlu Municipality, have completed their proceedings at the court.
The on-duty magistrate court decided to arrest the 10 suspects, including the deputy mayors of Kartal and Ataşehir.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant after determining that the suspects were placed in municipalities with fictitious titles such as "Labor Assembly Member," "District Assembly Member," "Women’s Assembly Member," "General Assembly Member," "Culture and Arts Commission Member," and "Delegate Member," as part of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization's activities within the structure of the Peoples' Democratic Congress, and simultaneous operations were conducted in 12 districts.
It was learned that the suspects had previously been active in the DEM Party.
In the investigation, as a result of HTS examinations, it was recorded that Kartal Deputy Mayor Cemalettin Yüksel had contact with 313 suspects, while Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Livan Gür had contact with 52 suspects.
It was determined that 8 of the suspects Yüksel and Gür were in contact with were wanted for the crime of "being a member of a terrorist organization," and 8 others were already in prison for the same crime.
