An accident occurred in the Erdemli district of Mersin as a light commercial vehicle collided with a motorcycle. The motorcycle rider, 16-year-old Defne Su Çelik, lost her life, while her friend Halil Samet Karadağ, who was riding behind her, was seriously injured. The horrific accident was captured by a security camera.
A heartbreaking accident occurred yesterday afternoon on Şenoğlu Street in the Alata neighborhood of Erdemli district in Mersin. A light commercial vehicle driven by S.U. (30) collided with a motorcycle ridden by Defne Su Çelik (16) at the intersection.
DEFNE SU LOST HER LIFE, HER FRIEND SERIOUSLY INJURED
As a result of the collision, Defne Su Çelik and her friend Halil Samet Karadağ (18) were thrown onto the road. Health and police teams were dispatched to the accident site upon notification from bystanders. The teams determined that Çelik had died at the scene. Karadağ, who was seriously injured, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The lifeless body of Defne Su Çelik, who was reported to be a 10th-grade student at a tourism vocational high school, was taken to the morgue for autopsy.
THE DRIVER WAS DETAINED
The driver of the light commercial vehicle, S.U., was detained, while the accident was captured by the security camera of a nearby business.
