In Istanbul's Kartal district, 16-year-old İsmail Mert Küçükbaşar, who fell to the ground after being punched by a friend at a high school, passed away despite the interventions made at the hospital. The young student's funeral was held in Bilecik.
16-year-old İsmail Mert Küçükbaşar, who lost his life after being punched by a friend at a high school in Kartal, Istanbul, was buried in Bilecik. The incident occurred on Thursday, November 20, at a high school in Kartal. According to reports, a playful interaction took place between İsmail Mert Küçükbaşar (16) and H.H.A. (16), who are classmates. As the playful interaction turned into a fight, H.H.A. punched İsmail Mert Küçükbaşar. The student fell to the ground after the blow, hitting his head on the floor and losing consciousness. Health teams were dispatched to the school upon notification.
DIED
The injured student was taken to Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital by ambulance. İsmail Mert Küçükbaşar, who was treated in intensive care, passed away last night. H.H.A., who was taken into custody after the incident, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station. The suspect student was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
BURIED IN BILECİK
16-year-old İsmail Mert Küçükbaşar, who lost his life, was buried in the Reşadiye neighborhood cemetery after the funeral prayer held at the Central Bazaar Mosque in Gölpazarı, Bilecik, following the noon prayer today. İsmail Mert was the only son of painter-writer Semra and Cengiz Küçükbaşar, who had him after 10 years of marriage and treatment.

Egehan Yıldırım, a school friend of İsmail Mert Küçükbaşar, expressed their deep sadness upon hearing the news of Mert's death, saying, "An ambulance came directly to our school after the incident. Mert was a very respectful and good person. I wish we had come to Bilecik together, but not for this reason. I have been friends with Mert since kindergarten for 12 years. May God have mercy on him." Additionally, it was learned that İsmail Mert Küçükbaşar participated in the TEKNOFEST Robotics Systems competition.
