Major panic broke out on a passenger plane preparing for takeoff at Manas International Airport in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. During takeoff, the aircraft's left landing gear broke, causing the plane to tilt sideways on the runway, and all 181 passengers and crew were urgently evacuated.

LANDING GEAR BROKE DURING TAKEOFF

The incident occurred at Manas International Airport. A McDonnell Douglas MD-83 passenger aircraft belonging to TezJet was taking off for a flight from Bishkek to the city of Osh when its left main landing gear broke. Losing balance, the plane tilted onto its left wing on the runway, and the takeoff was aborted.

181 PASSENGERS EVACUATED VIA SLIDES

After the landing gear broke, the 181 passengers and crew on board were quickly evacuated from the plane using emergency evacuation slides. Fire and medical teams dispatched to the scene took extensive security measures against a potential fire risk. According to initial assessments, no fatalities occurred, but it was reported that some passengers were slightly injured during the evacuation.

WING SCRAPED THE RUNWAY, FUEL LEAK OCCURRED

With the landing gear breaking, the aircraft's left wing made contact with the runway. A fuel leak occurred during the incident, and teams intervened immediately against a possible fire. The runway was closed to flight traffic for a period of time.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Aviation authorities launched a technical investigation to determine why the landing gear broke on the MD-83 type aircraft. Initial assessments indicated that the incident occurring during the low-speed phase of takeoff prevented a larger catastrophe.
