Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that they will achieve their goals in the Ukraine war and will do everything for victory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed deputies at the Kremlin Palace on the occasion of the closing of the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, ahead of the elections scheduled for September. Putin delivered clear messages regarding the war in Ukraine, Russia's economic situation, and the sanctions imposed by the West.

"WE ARE FIRST IN EUROPE"

Highlighting Russia's economic strength despite all the challenges and global crises of the last four years, Putin stated that his country currently ranks fourth in the world after China, the US, and India, and first in Europe. Arguing that they are also ahead of the European Union (EU) in terms of economic growth rates, Putin said:

"Of course, we would like to see more. However, there are also risks such as rising inflation and its associated consequences. Despite this, our current policies have significant advantages rooted in the stability of the Russian economic and financial system."

Putin emphasized that this stability is based on industrial development, the strengthening of the defense industry, and the importance given to social policies.

"WE WILL DO EVERYTHING FOR VICTORY IN UKRAINE"

The Russian leader, stating that they will achieve their goals in the war in Ukraine and do everything for victory, made assessments regarding the situation on the front line. Putin noted that "acting more boldly" on the battlefield carries its own risks, and the cost could be Russia's battlefield losses, and continued:

"Therefore, we will act carefully, persistently, and steadily here as well. We are pursuing the goals set for the country and will certainly achieve them."

Putin stated that the current period is a difficult and "fate-determining" time for Russia, and emphasized that this is understood not only by political leaders but also by ordinary citizens, highlighting that they are going through a period of great struggle.

REACTION TO SANCTIONS

Putin, arguing that Russia has been under constant pressure before and after 2014, severely criticized the West. Stating that since 2022 the West has "shifted the Russophobia machine into high gear, breaking world records," Putin said that the so-called sanctions are not working and, on the contrary, harm the peoples of Europe and other countries that took these steps.

Putin noted that the contours of a new world order are taking shape in an environment of struggle and intense competition, and stated that the fate of the Russian people is at stake, stressing that this is not an exaggeration but reality.

Emphasizing that those participating in the special military operation are fighting heroically for Russia and that the entire society stands behind them, Putin concluded his speech by saying: "The Russian people have always responded to aggressive external pressures and historical challenges with unity. We will achieve our goals and together we will do everything for victory, for Russia."
