The third session of the trial with 22 defendants regarding the killing of Sinan Ateş, who lost his life in an armed attack in Ankara on December 30, 2022, has started. The trial, held at the Sincan Penitentiary Campus in the courtroom of the Ankara 32nd Heavy Penal Court, was attended by the defendants, their lawyers, the plaintiff Ayşe Ateş, and their relatives. ALL PARTIES ARE FOLLOWINGAli Babacan, the leader of the DEVA Party, Mustafa Yeneroğlu, the Head of Legal and Justice Policies of the DEVA Party, and Murat Bakan, a member of parliament from CHP Izmir, are also following the trial. In the first hearing of the trial, the defense statements of 8 defendants were heard, and in the second hearing, the defense statements of 13 defendants were heard. WARNING AGAINST POLITICAL INTERVENTIONDuring the first day of the trial, the defendant Çep, who shouted "Where is Mr. Kemal" in the courtroom, referred to the statement made by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the 7th Chairman of CHP, saying "Here I am, I swear by God, I will fight until the end. Here I am." WARNING FROM THE PRESIDING JUDGE TO TROUBLEMAKERSThe Presiding Judge stated that those who cause trouble in the courtroom will not be allowed in again. The Presiding Judge also noted that if political party representatives, like Remzi Çayır, the leader of the National Path Party, interfere in the trial again, they will not be allowed in the courtroom due to "political intervention in the case." In today's hearing, the detained defendant Umut Ersoy, who is being tried for "assisting in the intentional killing of Sinan Ateş by planning collectively and in complicity," and the defendant's lawyers will be heard.
