In the last 2 days, 63 people have lost their lives due to lightning strikes in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in India. Additionally, 40 people were injured in the Bihar state.
63 people lost their lives as a result of lightning strikes in the Uttar Pradesh and Bihar states of India.
According to Hindustan Times, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that a large number of lightning strikes occurred in 10 regions of Uttar Pradesh and various regions of Bihar on Wednesday and Thursday.
63 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES IN 2 DAYS
As a result of lightning strikes, at least 43 people died in Uttar Pradesh and 20 in Bihar. Health officials also shared that 40 people were injured in the Bihar state.
240,000 LIGHTNING STRIKE INCIDENTS OCCURRED
Meteorology experts emphasize that such a large number of powerful lightning events are unusual during the monsoon months. IMD announced that there were 240,000 lightning strike incidents in nearby regions including India, the Bay of Bengal, and the Arabian Sea on Wednesday and Thursday. IMD warned that severe rainfall is expected in the southwest and northeast of India for the next five days.
