3 HOSPITALS JOINED ACIBADEM
As part of the transfer agreement, 3 hospitals, two in Ankara and one in Istanbul, along with 6 dental clinics, will operate under the "Acıbadem-Bayındır" brand. With the transfer of healthcare institutions employing 1,252 staff, including 205 physicians, a long-term collaboration process has been initiated between the parties.
"TURKEY IS ON THE PATH TO BECOMING A GLOBAL PLAYER IN HEALTH TOURISM"
After the signing ceremony, İş Bankası General Manager Hakan Aran stated in his speech that the need for quality healthcare services and the steps taken in this direction have led to rapid growth in the private healthcare sector over the last 20 years. Aran expressed that Turkey is progressing towards becoming a significant player on a global scale, especially in Europe, with the quality of services it offers in health tourism. Emphasizing that they see the healthcare sector as a strategic area prioritized for improving the quality of human life rather than just an investment opportunity, Aran noted that the patient-centered service approach, expert staff, and service quality at international standards of Bayındır Healthcare Group, in which they participated in 1999, operate while adhering to ethical values.
Aran highlighted that the current stage of the healthcare sector and healthcare technology in Turkey necessitates larger volumes, investments, and strong collaborations, stating: "We see that the private healthcare sector in Turkey has reached a strategic size that creates meaningful advantages in terms of economies of scale, with strong capital structures, developed organizational models, modern physical infrastructure, advanced medical equipment, and a team of specialized healthcare personnel that meet international standards. Acıbadem Group is among the leading groups in our country's healthcare sector. This strategic partnership, which we believe will be high in synergy, long-lasting, and stable with Acıbadem, represents a collaboration shaped around a common vision and values that goes beyond a simple share transfer. As one of the most important players in Turkey's healthcare sector, we believe that we will take our presence in the healthcare sector to a much higher level with Acıbadem Group as we embark on a beautiful journey with our bank, which is almost as old as our Republic."
Stating that their goal is to integrate Bayındır Healthcare Group into Acıbadem Group, which has high medical and service standards, primarily by expanding and developing their hospitals in Ankara and Istanbul, Aran mentioned that they plan to continue their investments in hospitals more robustly with the transfer of the majority shares of Bayındır Hospitals to Acıbadem Group.
"THIS IS NOT JUST A SHARE PURCHASE, WE ARE ACQUIRING A CULTURE"
Acıbadem Healthcare Group Chairman Mehmet Ali Aydınlar also shared that Acıbadem Healthcare Group serves a total of 29 hospitals, 15 medical centers, and 29,000 employees, with 22 in Turkey and 7 in Europe.
Recalling that they added International Hospital to their group in 2005, Aydınlar continued his speech: "Now, we are serving as Acıbadem International Hospital. A short while ago, we also acquired Kent Hospital, one of the leading hospitals in Izmir. We changed its name to Acıbadem Kent Hospital, completely renovated and expanded the hospital, and it has become one of the best hospitals in Turkey. Now, thanks to this strategic collaboration we have made with İş Bankası, we have acquired 80% of Bayındır Hospitals. But this is not just a share purchase; we are acquiring a culture and infrastructure. I believe there is much we can learn from each other."
Aydınlar indicated that they want to grow and expand Bayındır Hospitals, stating that they will provide services in these hospitals under the "Acıbadem Bayındır" brand. Aydınlar concluded, "We have a goal to expand Söğütözü Hospital. We also plan to build a new hospital and relocate the hospital in Istanbul. Our vision will be to further grow and expand Acıbadem Bayındır hospitals."
