Following the rising backlash, İsbir took a step back and announced that he would put the vehicle up for sale. In a program he attended, İsbir stated, "I will hand over the keys to anyone who brings 3 million 250 thousand lira. I will use the income to provide services in different areas for our district."
AK Party Çorum Ortaköy Mayor Taner İsbir shared images of his new official vehicle on his social media account. In his post, İsbir stated, "Since our other 'service vehicle' has completed its lifespan, we will serve with our new 'service vehicle'. May it be beneficial for our district."
"IT'S A SHAME FOR THIS NATION"
However, after the post, many users expressed their criticisms. In the comments, phrases like "The car looks more expensive than the municipal building," "The population of the district is 7000. Written out, seven thousand," "Incredible," "Is the district getting into the car?" and "It's a shame for this nation, it's a shame. I swear it's a shame" were included.
THE MAYOR TOOK A STEP BACK AS REACTIONS INCREASED
Mayor Taner İsbir took a step back after the reactions. While announcing that he was putting the vehicle up for sale, İsbir stated in the program he attended, "I am putting the vehicle up for sale in front of you. I will hand over the keys to anyone who brings 3 million 250 thousand lira. With the income, I will provide services in different areas for our district."
