It was reported that in Colombia, an explosion at a coal mine left 9 of the 15 trapped miners dead, while 6 were rescued.

In a statement from the National Mining Agency, it was stated that an explosion occurred in the mine named "La Ciscuda" in the town of Sutatausa, within the Cundinamarca administrative region.

The statement indicated that of the 15 workers trapped inside the mine as a result of the explosion, 9 lost their lives and 6 were rescued.

In the statement, which noted that the explosion was caused by gas accumulation, it was recorded that a technical inspection was conducted at the mine on April 9, and it was recommended to increase safety measures against dangerous gas accumulations, especially methane gas.

Cundinamarca Governor Jorge Emilio Rey announced in his statement to the press that the explosion occurred while the miners were working at a depth of approximately 600 meters.
