Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal, who is widely expected to switch to the AK Party, has removed her CHP membership via e-Government.

Making a post on the matter, journalist Sinan Burhan stated, 'Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal resigned from the Republican People's Party membership via e-Government.'

6 COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL ALSO RESIGN

It is being discussed that together with Burcu Köksal, 6 CHP municipal council members will also join the AK Party. In such a scenario, the majority in the council will shift to the AK Party.

MAY MAKE A STRONG SPEECH

According to insider information, if Burcu Köksal joins the AK Party, she is expected to make a striking speech during the program. It is claimed that Köksal will deliver harsh messages particularly towards the CHP General Headquarters and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

STATEMENT FROM ÖZEL

In his latest statement on the issue, CHP leader Özgür Özel said, 'I called her and said, 'We will stand behind you. If your husband did something wrong, divorce him if necessary, but don't do this to your party. Don't be complicit in the mistake, the party stands behind you like a wall.' However, at this point, Ms. Burcu does not seem likely to come out tomorrow and make a reasonable statement.'

ÇELIK DID NOT GIVE A CLEAR ANSWER

AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, in response to a question about Burcu Köksal, said, 'You see the mayors who will join our party at provincial headquarters and group meetings. So, you will see the developments there.'
