The fluctuations in Brent crude oil and the volatility in the exchange rate have once again pushed fuel prices up.

At midnight, the price of gasoline increased by 1 lira and 61 kuruş, and the rise in prices was reflected at the pump. After the increase, the price of gasoline in Istanbul rose to 54 lira and 90 kuruş, in Ankara to 55 lira and 73 kuruş, and in Izmir to 56 lira and 11 kuruş.

HOW ARE FUEL PRICES CALCULATED?

Fuel prices are calculated by refineries based on the average prices of refined products in the Mediterranean market, which includes Turkey, and changes in the dollar exchange rate. As a result of this calculation, the prices applied by distribution companies may show slight variations depending on competition and freedom among companies and cities.

EPGIS HAD DECIDED NOT TO ANNOUNCE PRICE CHANGES

After the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) filed a complaint against EPGIS, the only union that explains price changes, the union announced that it would not share fuel price changes with the public until the legal process was completed.
