The body parts of a 12-year-old girl who went missing while swimming in Palumpa, northern Australia, were found after being killed by a crocodile. The child disappeared while swimming in Mango Creek. Police confirmed today that the body parts belonging to the girl were found after 36 hours of intensive search efforts. Officials described the scene as "particularly horrific." Senior Sergeant Erica Gibson of the Northern Territory Police said, "The remains of the missing child were found in the riverbed after intensive searches throughout the night. As devastating as the outcome may be, I must say that everyone involved has shown incredible effort. However, this has been the most devastating outcome for the family. The family is in a state of extreme shock and disbelief." Northern Territory Police Minister Brent Potter warned the local community to be cautious, stating that authorities have been given the authority to "neutralize" the killer crocodile. "We live in an area where crocodiles invade our water sources... This is a reminder that we need to stay away from the water," he said. Sergeant Gibson mentioned that they saw a large black crocodile near the location where the girl swimming near the sea was found, and they used boats and helicopters in the search.
