A 17-year-old suspect, who shot and killed his father, mother, sister, and grandmother in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, and was later caught while fleeing in Bursa, has been arrested. The weapon used in the incident and some jewelry were also seized. In his initial interrogation, the suspect stated that the incident occurred because his father accused him of stealing gold.
In the incident that occurred yesterday evening in the three-story building on Derin Street in Eyüpsultan Akşemsettin Neighborhood, 17-year-old B.Y. killed his father Mehmet Yenigün (43), mother Aysun Yenigün (32), sister Zilan Yenigün (12), and grandmother Fatma İnce (71) after arguing with his family, and then fled the scene. B.Y., who was caught by police teams in Bursa, has completed his procedures at the Child Branch Directorate located in Üsküdar.
HE CONFESSED THE CRIME IN HIS FIRST INTERROGATION
It was learned that B.Y., who killed four members of his family, confessed to committing the murders during his first interrogation, while a wide-ranging investigation into the incident is being conducted in multiple directions.
HE SPREAD TERROR AFTER ARGUING WITH HIS FATHER
During the search conducted on the suspect, the weapon used in the incident and a quantity of jewelry and money were seized. It was learned that the seized weapon had a muzzle cap attached for using a silencer. In his first statement, B.Y. reportedly admitted that he argued with his father and committed the murders himself.
"MY FATHER ACCUSED ME OF STEALING THE GOLD"
In the suspect's statement, it was learned that he said, "When my father accused me of stealing the gold, a fight broke out, and I killed them all," and he could not provide logical answers regarding the gold that was found on him, which was determined to belong to his family.
HE WAS ARRESTED
B.Y. (17), whose procedures were completed at the Child Branch Directorate in Üsküdar, Istanbul, was arrested after his statement was taken at the courthouse to which he was referred.
