DENİZLİ SHOOK WITH 4.1 THIS TIME
Denizli has been continuing to shake since the morning. Another earthquake of 4.1 magnitude occurred in the Buldan district at 20:02. AFAD announced that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers.
A 5.1 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE OCCURRED IN THE MORNING
Meanwhile, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Buldan district at 09:21. The earthquake, which caused fear and panic among citizens, occurred 7 kilometers underground. According to initial assessments, the tremor did not lead to any negative consequences.
SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS WERE EVACUATED
Due to the earthquake, there was a significant fear and panic experienced, especially in hospitals and schools, which were crowded on the first day of the week. The outpatient clinics of Denizli State Hospital, which were reported to be earthquake-resistant, were evacuated in line with warnings from AFAD.
Students in schools were also evacuated from the buildings in a controlled manner. It was reported that no negative situations had been reported so far, while teams began field scans.
PROF. DR. BEKTAŞ: THIS EARTHQUAKE WAS NOT A SURPRISE
Prof. Dr. Osman Bektaş, a retired faculty member of the Department of Geological Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University, evaluated the 5.1 magnitude earthquake. The earthquake expert stated that the tremor was not a surprise and used the following expressions:
"It is an unsurprising earthquake that developed on the Uşak Fault Block - Earthquake cluster. The earthquake must have developed as a result of the stress transfer caused by the 1969 M6.5 Alaşehir earthquake to the southeast. It is possible that this earthquake cluster will grow even more over time due to stress transfer."
