A balcony on the fifth floor of a six-story building in Kadıköy, Istanbul, collapsed. There were no fatalities or injuries in the incident, but the building was evacuated as a precaution.
The balcony of the 5th floor of the 6-story building on Melih Cevdet Anday Street in Dumlupınar Neighborhood collapsed at night. Upon receiving reports from witnesses, police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. During the teams' efforts, it was determined that no one was trapped under the collapsed balcony.
DAMAGE OCCURRED TO CARS
After the collapse, damage occurred to a car located in front of the building. It was also observed that there were plaster cracks on the balconies of other apartments in the building. After the fire department completed its work, municipal teams conducted inspections in the building. Following the inspections by the teams, the building was evacuated as a precaution.
"WE THOUGHT SOMEONE FELL FROM THE UPPER FLOOR"
Umut Barış Yıldız, who lives on the third floor of the building, stated, "I live on the third floor. We heard a noise and thought someone fell from the upper floor. We saw that the balcony had collapsed. The building has been evacuated now. Firefighters, police, and ambulances are here. We have no injuries. I don't think the collapse of the balcony is related to any other building or an earthquake."
