The Ministry of Trade has decided to withdraw the Formula 505 brand drain opener product from the market and to prohibit its sale for safety reasons.
The Ministry of Trade announced through the Unsafe Product Information System (GÜBİS) that the Formula 505 branded drain cleaner product has been found unsafe. The ministry reported that the product's market release has been banned and a recall decision has been made.
CHEMICAL RISK IDENTIFIED
According to the information published by the ministry, Formula 505 (50 gr) Drain Cleaner has been included in the list of unsafe products due to the chemical risks it carries. It has been assessed that the product poses a serious risk to consumers.
NON-COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS ON PACKAGING
Inspections revealed that the tactile hazard symbol, which is mandatory on the product packaging, was missing. It was emphasized that this symbol is vital for visually impaired individuals to distinguish hazardous chemicals. The ministry stated that the product was not packaged in accordance with the TS EN ISO 11683 standard, which jeopardizes consumer safety.
COMPANY AND PRODUCT INFORMATION
According to GÜBİS records, the product was offered to the market by Erm Global Trade – Ermahan Kızıl. The product, which is indicated to have Turkey as its country of origin, is recorded to be in the drain cleaner category.

The market release ban and recall decision regarding the Formula 505 drain cleaner was made on January 9, 2026. It was reported that the decision was implemented under the Regulation on Detergents and the Regulation on the Classification, Labeling, and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures.
