While the issue of whether a mid-year increase in the minimum wage will be made in July remains on the agenda, this time a surprising statement came from employers. GGYD President Allıoğlu emphasized the impact of the cost of living on low-income individuals, stating that there should be an increase in the minimum wage at least in line with the inflation rate.
As demands for a raise in the minimum wage increase in July, this time the call has come from the business world. Nezih Allıoğlu, President of the Young Entrepreneurs and Governance Association (GGYD), stated that the cost of living crisis affects a large segment of society, emphasizing that it is essential to increase the minimum wage at least in line with the inflation rate. Allıoğlu highlighted that not only low-income individuals but also tradespeople, SMEs, and large companies are facing economic difficulties.
"COST OF LIVING CRISIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT AGENDA"
According to a news report in Sözcü; President Allıoğlu expressed that the purchasing power of households has significantly weakened under the current economic conditions. "A large portion of society is experiencing a cost of living crisis. Therefore, a raise at least in line with the actual inflation rate is important for both economic and social balance," he said.
SMEs CANNOT ACCESS CREDIT
Pointing out the contraction in the economy, Allıoğlu stated that access to credit has become difficult despite high interest rates, and this situation negatively affects many sectors, especially SMEs. "It is essential to increase the 30 billion lira KGF credit to 200 billion lira and to facilitate access to credit," he stated.
