FREEDOM FLOTILLA: VOLUNTEERS KIDNAPPED BY THE ARMY

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition announced on their Telegram account that "the volunteers on the Madleen ship were kidnapped by the Israeli army." The statement called for pressure to be applied to the foreign ministries of the countries of the kidnapped human rights activists to ensure their safety.

WHITE LIQUID THROWN AT THE SHIP

The coalition stated in a post before the intervention that a white irritant liquid was thrown at the ship by drone. A video shared on the Freedom Flotilla Coalition's Telegram account indicated that drones belonging to the Israeli army were flying over the ship. Human rights activist Yasemin Acar, showing the spilled white liquid, said, "They poured a chemical liquid on us, we don't know what it is. This is another war crime being committed against civilians."

In the shared video, Acar, covering her face, said that her eyes were burning due to the liquid.

WHO IS ON THE SHIP?

On the Madleen, in addition to Rima Hassan, a French member of the European Parliament (EP), and Yasemin Acar, a German citizen, there were Hüseyin Şuayb Ordu from Turkey, Thiago Avila from Brazil, Sergio Toribio from Spain, Marco van Rennes from the Netherlands, Baptiste Andre, Reva Viard, Pascal Maurieras, and Yanis Mhamdi from France, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, and journalist Omar Faiad.

The Madleen was carrying urgently needed supplies for the people of Gaza, such as baby formula, flour, rice, diapers, women's hygiene products, water purification kits, medical supplies, crutches, and children's prosthetics.

“THEY WILL BE SENT BACK TO THEIR COUNTRIES”

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Madleen ship, which it had detained about 185 kilometers away from the Gaza Strip, was taken to Israel. It was reported that the activists would be sent back to their countries.

UN: RELEASE THE SHIP

United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on Palestine Francesca Albanese called for the release of the Madleen ship, which Israel has detained with 12 human rights activists, and for the blockade on Gaza to be lifted. In a post on her X account, Albanese stated that the Madleen ship, which aims to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, "must be urgently released." The UN Rapporteur emphasized, "Every Mediterranean port should send boats carrying aid, solidarity, and humanity to Gaza. They will sail together, and together they will become unstoppable." Albanese pointed out the blockade that Israel has imposed, which has caused a humanitarian disaster in Gaza, stating, "Breaking the blockade is a legal responsibility for states and a moral obligation for all of us."

HAMAS: THIS IS STATE TERRORISM

Hamas criticized Israel's intervention in the humanitarian aid ship Madleen heading to Gaza, stating that the seizure of the ship means "organized state terrorism." In a written statement, Hamas said, "We salute the brave activists from various nations who stand firm against threats and show once again that Gaza is not alone." The statement emphasized that the Madleen sailing ship and other humanitarian aid ships trying to reach Gaza from Algeria, Tunisia, and Jordan are "living proof of the failure of Israel's propaganda machine." Hamas called on the United Nations (UN) to take action for the release of the detained activists. The statement said, "The seizure of the Madleen will not silence the voices of free people and will not stop the growing global solidarity with Gaza."

ISRAELI MINISTER'S INSTRUCTION TO "FORCE THEM TO WATCH A VIDEO"

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz congratulated the Israeli army for its "swift" intervention in the Madleen. In a message shared on X regarding the Israeli soldiers' intervention in the humanitarian aid ship, Katz stated that he had instructed the army to show a video documenting the October 7 attack to the detained activists. Katz said, "I congratulate the Israel Defense Forces for swiftly and securely seizing the 'Madleen' flotilla to prevent it from breaking the blockade and reaching the shores of Gaza. I instructed the Israel Defense Forces to show the passengers of the flotilla the video depicting the horrors of the October 7 massacre when they arrive at the Ashdod port. It would be appropriate for the anti-Semitic Greta and her friends supporting Hamas to see exactly who the Hamas terrorist organization is and who they work for, what atrocities they have committed against women, the elderly, and children, and against whom Israel is fighting to defend itself. The Israel Defense Forces will continue its fight against Hamas murderers with all moral righteousness until all hostages are released and the security of the State of Israel is ensured."
