The Turkish activist Şuayb Ordu, who was on the Madleen Freedom Ship carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, was kidnapped by Israeli forces. Just before the Israeli intervention, Şuayb Ordu stated that he was at risk of being targeted and mistreated, and he called on the public and the Turkish state.
"THEY DON'T HAVE A SINGLE PIECE OF EVIDENCE TO BLAME US"
According to a report in the Türkiye newspaper, Ordu stated that the activists on the ship took all necessary precautions against the Israeli intervention and said they were being careful to avoid provocations and propaganda:
"If the Zodiacs approach, there is nothing on the ship that could be considered a crime. We will even put the knives we use in the kitchen in a box and throw them into the sea. Right now, there is neither a stick nor a sharp or piercing tool on the ship. We even collected the scissors. If someone places something on the ship, it would be a clear slander."
"I AM THE MOST AT-RISK PERSON ON THE SHIP"
In a statement made just hours before his detention, Ordu emphasized that he could be specifically targeted and used the following expressions:
"Perhaps I am the most at-risk person on the ship right now. Rima Hassan has the European Parliament behind her. But I am neither recognized nor known. I could easily be overlooked. They might vent their anger on me."
"I MAY BE TARGETED EXTRA BECAUSE I AM TURKISH"
"In previous processes, Turkish citizens have faced disproportionate mistreatment. They may try to label me as a 'terrorist' because of my religious views. They want to discredit the entire mission with this label."
"I AM ASKING FOR HELP FROM MY STATE"
Ordu stated that his lawyers are on standby in Europe and Palestine:
"But if the process drags on, it will be very important for Turkey to raise its voice in the public and diplomatic channels. As a Turkish citizen, I need my state to stand by me."
"THEY WILL CHOOSE ME AS A SCAPEGOAT BECAUSE I AM TURKISH"
Turkish activist Hüseyin Şuayb Ordu, in a video he shared with the title 'Very Important!', said, "As far as I understand, Israel wants to designate a scapegoat. They will choose me as a scapegoat because I am Turkish!"
Continuing his words, the Turkish activist stated, "If they kill me, let everyone know that I did not engage in any action, and even if they put a gun to my head, I will not retaliate in any way. I will not take any action that would endanger the lives of my friends on the ship. If they have the courage, let them film the raid process on the ship and share it with the world." he expressed.
