A residential area is being established in the city for the Chinese electric car giant BYD, which will invest 1 billion dollars in Turkey and set up a factory in Manisa. In the facility, which is aimed to start production by the end of 2026, it is planned to provide direct employment for up to 20,000 people. Speaking to Egedesonsöz, Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek stated that BYD's establishment of a factory in the city will make a significant contribution to the local economy. "2,500 CHINESE EMPLOYEES AND THEIR FAMILIES WILL COME"Stating that the process of establishing the factory is ongoing, Zeyrek also mentioned that 2,500 Chinese employees and their families will come to the city for the region that will provide employment for approximately 20,000 people. Zeyrek noted that they will work on the adaptation of the employees coming from China to the country, saying: "I need to keep BYD's money in Manisa. I am trying to create new living areas, including a Chinese street. I am an architect and I have a profession that can reach a solution. In fact, another Vestel is coming to Manisa. We are talking about an area where approximately 20,000 people will work. With that, the sub-industries are starting to come as well. I am directing incoming industrialists to new organized industrial zones. I want Soma and Kırkağaç to develop. We are trying to establish a logistics center related to this. Alsancak Port has now reached its limits. We are considering reaching Aliağa and Çandarlı ports through Soma. We need to spread the city to the new logistics center with a new rail from TCDD."
