The prosecutor's objection to the release of 5 individuals, along with former Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, was rejected. A higher court found the release decision to be procedurally correct and ruled to dismiss the prosecutor's objection.
In the case known to the public as the "Aziz İhsan Aktaş Criminal Organization Case," 9 individuals, including former Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar, were released from custody a few days ago.
PROSECUTION APPEALED
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had appealed the release of 6 individuals, including Zeydan Karalar. The appeal was reviewed by the higher court, the Istanbul 2nd Heavy Criminal Court.
REJECTED
The higher court ruled that the reasoning of the Istanbul 1st Heavy Criminal Court's decision was "appropriate" and decided to reject the appeal.
Other 5 individuals whose releases were appealed by the prosecutor's office but were confirmed by the higher court's decision are as follows: Mehmet Ataş, Ali Fırat Baycan, Cem Alper Akyüz, Mert Çelik, and Müzeyyen Karakaş.
