In accordance with the letter sent to 81 provinces signed by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, educational and social activities aimed at developing students' national and spiritual values will be implemented in schools throughout the month of Ramadan. The letter stated, "It is of great importance to plan and implement educational and social activities aimed at developing the awareness of sharing, raising awareness about helping those in need, and strengthening the feelings of cooperation and solidarity."
The Ministry of National Education (MEB) will organize events themed "Ramadan in the Heart of Education" in schools during the month of Ramadan. According to a statement from the ministry, a letter was sent to 81 provinces with the signature of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, indicating that educational and social activities will be carried out throughout Ramadan to develop students' awareness of sharing, strengthen feelings of cooperation and solidarity, and promote national and spiritual values such as unity, justice, compassion, and patriotism.
EMPHASIS ON "UNITY-TOGETHERNESS"
In the letter regarding "Ramadan month activities" within the scope of the Turkey Century Education Model, it was pointed out that the founding approach based on the preservation of the eternal existence of the Turkish homeland and nation, and the indivisible integrity of the state with its country and nation, is clearly emphasized in the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, stating that every citizen is inherently entitled to lead a dignified life within the national culture, civilization, and legal order, and to develop their material and spiritual existence in this direction. The letter included statements such as, "In accordance with this constitutional framework, the Republic of Turkey is a 'state of law within the understanding of social peace, national solidarity, and justice,' and it is stipulated that one of the fundamental aims and duties of the state is to 'strive to prepare the necessary conditions for the development of the material and spiritual existence of individuals.' Additionally, the right to education and training, as well as taking measures to ensure the upbringing and development of youth, is organized as a duty of the state."
GENERAL AIM OF TURKISH NATIONAL EDUCATION...
The letter stated that the general aim of Turkish national education, as stipulated in Article 2 of the Law on National Education No. 1739, is to raise individuals who adopt, protect, and develop national, moral, human, spiritual, and cultural values, and that primary education, according to Article 1 of the Primary Education and Education Law No. 222, is a fundamental educational process that serves the physical, mental, and moral development of students.
The letter included the following statements: "This legal framework necessitates the structuring of our education system with a holistic understanding that emphasizes not only academic achievements but also moral maturity, social responsibility, and value-based development. Furthermore, the updated curricula under the name of the Turkey Century Education Model aim to strengthen our national unity and togetherness. The Turkey Century Education Model is based on a holistic educational approach that considers the individual in the integrity of body and spirit, integrating knowledge with moral responsibility. The primary goal of the model is to raise competent and virtuous individuals based on the principle of developing knowledge, skills, tendencies, and values together."
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND HUMAN SENSITIVITY
The letter emphasized that the Turkey Century Education Model encompasses a multifaceted development process that highlights moral maturity, social responsibility, and human sensitivity alongside academic success, stating that the framework of virtue-value-action at the center of the model is based on the internalization of values by students and their transformation into behavior in daily life.
RESPECT, JUSTICE, COMPASSION, PATRIOTISM...
The letter stated that national and spiritual values such as respect, responsibility, justice, compassion, patriotism, helpfulness, sensitivity, and diligence serve as a guiding moral compass in the relationships students establish with themselves, society, and their environment, aiming for them to act with a sense of responsibility in every area of life. It was stated that the student profile defined in the Turkey Century Education Model consists of moral, wise, courageous, aesthetically sensitive, determined, compassionate, inquisitive, productive, and patriotic individuals. This profile envisions students as individuals who can protect the cultural heritage they inherit from the past while building the future, who have developed a sense of national identity, prioritize social solidarity, and adhere to the principle of doing what is good, right, and beneficial for humanity. In this respect, the Turkey Century Education Model is based on an understanding of education that extends from roots to the future, emphasizing the development of social and emotional skills along with value-based and human-centered education.
THE AIM IS TO DEVELOP AWARENESS OF SHARING
The letter expressed that the month of Ramadan is seen as an opportunity to further highlight the values of sharing, helping, and solidarity in our social life, as well as to strengthen national unity and togetherness and to pass on cultural heritage to future generations. It stated: "In this direction, it is of great importance to plan and implement educational and social activities throughout the month of Ramadan to develop our students' awareness of sharing, raise awareness about helping those in need, and strengthen feelings of cooperation and solidarity. In this context, 'Ramadan in the Heart of Education' themed events will be organized in all 81 provinces during the month of Ramadan."
"LET'S MEET AT IFTAR" INTERVIEW PROGRAMS
In line with the aforementioned letter, cultural heritage reflecting events that strengthen the awareness of sharing and being together will be held with the participation of primary school students in 81 provinces as part of the "Ramadan in the Heart of Education" festivities. During Ramadan, "Let's Talk at Iftar" interview programs will be organized for middle and high school students with the participation of expert speakers on predetermined topics. Additionally, common iftar tables will be set up with the voluntary participation of families to strengthen school-family cooperation and reinforce the sense of social unity.
It was stated that the events to be held in schools will be planned based on the principle of voluntariness, taking into account the developmental levels of students and the facilities of the school, in accordance with the fundamental approach of the Turkey Century Education Model, the virtue-value-action framework, and social-emotional learning skills, while observing sensitivities that protect confidentiality, privacy, and human dignity. The events will be carried out in accordance with the prepared implementation guidelines.
