A crane approximately 50 meters high, located at the construction site of a residence in Şişli Mecidiyeköy, toppled over onto a student dormitory. While the dormitory building, which had students inside, sustained damage, fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries.
A crane collapsed around 08:30 at a residential construction site on Akıncı Bayırı Street in the Mecidiyeköy neighborhood of Şişli district in Istanbul. Firefighters, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene following reports from witnesses of the accident.
A DISASTER WAS AVERTED
In the incident, where there were no fatalities or injuries, the crane struck the adjacent student dormitory. Damage occurred in the dormitory, which had students inside. While police teams took security measures in the area, municipal teams conducted investigations in the damaged building.
ACCIDENT CAUGHT ON CAMERA
The crane's collapse was recorded by a security camera at a workplace. In the footage, the crane collapses after a truck passes by. The truck driver, who narrowly escaped being trapped under the crane, continues on his way. In another security camera, the crane's collapse is clearly visible.
