A doctor identified as P.Ç., who is alleged to have induced premature births in some of his patients by administering medication vaginally without their knowledge at a private hospital in Sancaktepe, was detained in Ataşehir. The doctor, whose computer, mobile phone, and two USB drives were confiscated, was referred to the court with judicial control measures.
In a private hospital located in Sancaktepe, Istanbul, a new development has emerged in the scandal where it was alleged that a gynecologist performed early deliveries through vaginal medication without the knowledge of her patients.
DOCTOR DETAINED
Following a criminal complaint made by the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the doctor at the center of the allegations, P.Ç., was detained yesterday in Ataşehir. During searches conducted by police teams at the suspect's address, 2 USB drives, 1 laptop, and 1 mobile phone were seized. The suspect doctor P.Ç. was referred to the court with judicial control conditions.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In a complaint made to the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate in September 2025, it was claimed that approximately 8,000 births occurred at the same hospital between 2015 and 2025, and a significant portion of these were performed at 32, 34, and 36 weeks, meaning before the normal term. It was alleged that some pregnancies, which should normally last 40 weeks, were terminated early, resulting in some babies being admitted to intensive care and experiencing permanent health issues.
UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MEDICATION ON PATIENTS
In the complaints, it was particularly alleged that some patients were administered a drug called "Cytotec" vaginally during examinations without their knowledge. This drug, which can induce contractions and lead to delivery in a short time, is stated to be used only in overdue pregnancies or after childbirth; it poses serious risks for both the mother and the baby in cases of early delivery.
CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FROM THE PROVINCIAL HEALTH DIRECTORATE
After the tip-off received in September 2025, teams from the Ministry of Health's Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate began examining patient files and medical records at the hospital. As a result of the investigations, it was learned that an administrative investigation was initiated against Dr. P.Ç. and the hospital, and a criminal complaint was also filed with the prosecutor's office.
WOMEN'S HEALTH DEPARTMENT CLOSED INDEFINITELY
Following the scandalous allegations, the hospital's gynecology outpatient clinic, gynecology ward, and delivery room were closed indefinitely. Officials from the Ministry of Health stated that investigations at the hospital were ongoing and that staff statements had begun to be taken.
