Across the country, the main reason behind hectares of forest turning to ash has once again been revealed. In Marmaris, a driver who knew the cost of a single spark threw a lit cigarette butt from their moving vehicle into a forested area, but couldn't escape security cameras. A judicial process has been initiated against the apprehended individual, seeking up to 3 years of imprisonment.
In the Marmaris district of Muğla, an insensitive driver who threw an unextinguished cigarette butt from his moving car into a forested area was caught following a pursuit by the Marmaris Forestry Management Directorate and gendarmerie teams. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspect.
SECURITY CAMERAS WERE REVIEWED After images shared on social media, teams from the Marmaris Forestry Management Directorate and the District Gendarmerie Command launched an investigation on the orders of the Marmaris Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Carefully examining security camera footage from the area, the teams identified the person who threw a burning cigarette butt from his car window into the forested area while traveling on the Orhaniye Mahallesi road as S.G., born in 1999. The identified suspect was apprehended shortly afterward.

"INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE WITH DETERMINATION" Officials from the Forestry Management Directorate, highlighting the increased fire danger during the summer months, emphasized that inspections against any behavior posing a fire risk in forested areas will continue uninterruptedly and with determination. Teams called on citizens who encounter similar insensitivity to promptly report it to the relevant authorities.
