PSG's Achraf Hakimi will be tried in a criminal court due to a rape allegation in 2023; the star footballer has denied the accusations.
A new development has occurred in the investigation against Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan footballer of Paris Saint-Germain, who was accused of raping a woman in February 2023. The Nanterre prosecutor's office and the player's lawyer confirmed that Hakimi will be tried in a criminal court.
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE CONFIRMED
According to reports in the British press, an investigation was launched against the 27-year-old footballer, who is alleged to have raped a 24-year-old woman in his home in the Boulogne-Billancourt area of Paris on February 25, 2023. It was stated that the case has been transferred to the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court.
HAKIMI DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS
Achraf Hakimi denied the allegations in a statement made on his social media account. Hakimi stated, “Despite my denial of the rape accusation and everything showing that this is wrong, a lawsuit has been filed. I calmly await the hearing where the truth will come to light.”
STATEMENT FROM HIS LAWYER
Fanny Colin, Hakimi's lawyer, who spoke to Ouest-France, criticized the statement on which the accusation is based and argued that her client is innocent. The judicial process is expected to become clearer in the upcoming period.
