According to reports in the French press, Dupont discovered several pieces of gold while digging in an area of his agricultural land in the Auvergne region that caught his attention. Geologists who arrived at the scene determined that more than 150 tons of gold were found in the area.

The gold deposit, estimated to be worth 4 billion euros, is said to be the largest gold discovery in the country in recent years. Official authorities have requested research to be conducted in the area for the purpose of nature conservation and have not yet allowed gold extraction on Dupont's land. In France, the operation of gold deposits is under the authority of the government. Economists state that the gold deposit could provide employment for hundreds of people and make a significant contribution to the regional economy. Environmentalists, however, argue that such an activity could have negative effects on nature.
