The Eyyübiye District Municipality of Şanlıurfa has signed a project that is rarely seen in Turkey by raising the bar in the understanding of social municipalism. Under the instruction of Mayor Mehmet Kuş, the initiative provides sacrificial rams and cash slaughter support to 400 orphans and needy families in the district.
BOTH SACRIFICIAL RAM AND CASH SUPPORT
Acting in line with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's sensitivity towards "reaching out to those in need," Eyyübiye Municipality is touching hearts during Ramadan. In the first phase of the project, 400 small livestock animals were delivered personally by Mayor Mehmet Kuş to the doors of the families.
2,000 TL CASH AID
The municipality did not limit itself to just animal support, providing each family with 2,000 TL in cash aid to cover their slaughter costs. During the delivery, Mayor Kuş conveyed President Erdoğan's greetings and shared in the joy of Ramadan with the citizens.
THE "EYYÜBİYE MODEL" IN SOCIAL AID
In statements made during the distribution ceremony, Mayor Mehmet Kuş emphasized that they have expanded their social support activities, which they have been carrying out uninterrupted for seven years, even further this year. Kuş stated the following in his remarks:
"A tent was set up for iftar throughout Ramadan; we are with our citizens not only with food but in every area. We are meeting the meat needs of 400 families by delivering sacrificial rams. In addition, we are providing hot meals to 3,000 families daily and food packages to 25,000 families. We are on the ground, serving our nation."
Mayor Kuş's social municipal services are appreciated by the district's residents.
