THE FIRST SINCE TUTANKHAMUN
After the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922, the entrance and main corridor of this structure, which is the first royal tomb discovered in Egypt, were identified in 2022. Recent excavations have revealed new findings proving that the tomb belongs to King Tutmosis II.
MAY HAVE BEEN MOVED AFTER LOOTING
Dr. Mohammed Ismail Khalid, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt, stated that the fragments of vessels found in the tomb refer to Tutmosis II as the 'deceased king' and that the name of the famous Queen Hatshepsut is also mentioned. However, the mummy of King Tutmosis II was found in a location not far from the tomb in the 19th century. Experts believe that the king's remains may have been moved after the tomb was looted, and this discovery provides important information about the Tutmosis Dynasty and the lost kings of the period.
